The Counseling
Process- guiding people towards healthy eating and exercise
The
initial consultation involves a discussion about your nutrition related health
concerns. Together we’ll explore your eating and exercise habits and how
emotional issues, family and work commitments impact your food choices.
Each
person presents with a unique set of circumstances. Variations in health
conditions, genetics, digestion and absorption of nutrients, growth, weight, and
food preferences are explored and considered throughout the counseling process.
This results in an individualized plan that is both practical and achievable.
Recommendations include specific nutrient dense foods to balance carbohydrate,
protein, and fat and to increase vitamin and mineral content; specific vitamins,
minerals, and herbs can also be recommended depending on individual situations.

Working with Parents, children, and babies
Teaching our children to be healthy eaters is a life long gift. The feeding
relationship between parent and child begins at birth. Melissa works with
mothers on feeding issues related to breast and bottle feeding, introducing
solids and new foods, and creating a joyful eating environment for growing
children. She also works with parents to incorporate practical solutions to
complex and difficult family eating situations. These include picky eaters,
food allergies, growth and weight concerns, and failure to thrive. |
