Patricia M. Ford is a Board Certified
Family Nurse Practitioner. She graduated from the University of Vermont Family
Nurse Practitioner program in 1980. She received a Bachelor of Science degree
from New England College and a Master in Social Work from the University of
Connecticut. After working with several family physicians in collaborative
practice, she opened her own family practice office, Healthy Generations in
Franklin, NH in 1987 with an emphasis on preventative health care. She operated
Healthy Generations for13 years until the practice expanded and eventually
became Westside Health Care under the management of Lakes Regional General
Hospital, Laconia, NH in 2003.
A love of water and a desire to sail oceans prompted her to take early
retirement with her husband in 2004, move aboard their sailboat and sail to the
Caribbean. She started a second career by developing and operating Sail
Amaryllis, a sailing charter business for 3 years, alternating between winters
in the Virgin Islands and summers in Portsmouth, NH with her husband, Bob.
In 2007, the call to return to nursing practice was answered by managing the
First Aid Station on Star Island, Isles of Shoals for the Star Island
Corporation’s offshore Conference and Retreat Center during their 16 week
summer/fall season. As the Island Nurse Practitioner, health care and logistical
challenges arise daily with the 300 weekly rotating conferees of all ages
residing on Star Island along with 100 staff but the joy of island living has
her returning yearly for the experience.
Pat is excited to join the Whole Life Health Care staff in November, 2009 and is
eager to practice in a setting that offers integrative health care for
individuals and families. She brings 40 years of total nursing experience in
Maternal-Child Health, Women’s Health, Family Planning, Adult Health and Urgent
care.
In 1991, she was honored by her peers to receive the NH Nurse Practitioner of
the Year award.
Her other interests include enjoying her 3 granddaughters, traveling, renovating
their 1982 60 foot Gulfstar ketch rig sailboat with her spouse and gourmet
cooking.
